The project team visited the project industrial partner Nidec Control Techniques (CT) in Newtown on 15th August 2018. They had a project meeting with Jon Atkinson, Frank Heerdt and many other CT staffs, and discussed how CT’s new generation Digitax HD servo drives can be used in the proposed low voltage DC microgrid research platform.
After the meeting, the project team had a tour of CT’s new hi-tech engineering facility, and also had a visit of the factory. It was really a good experience for our Ph.D students to see how CT’s drives are manufactured, from PCBs and components to packed drives.
